Catarina Bessa Lucas (b. 1997, Porto) understands painting as an open field. Her practice explores materiality as both force and presence, while also engaging with sculptural and spatial dimensions that challenge the limits of the pictorial plane, maintaining a continuous desire to expand painting into other contexts and media.
