Pedro Moreira

Technical Residency /

Pedro Moreira is a queer artist with early roots in mormonism who works within the language of theology and its parallels with fantasy fictions and gamification, exploring the relationship between the idealization of virtual and fantasy spaces and theological or mythological utopic and creationist landscapes. Using the method of world- building as a narrative tool, Moreira’s research materialises through their multidisciplinary practice in the form of sculptures, videos, installations and performances. Moreira is interested in portraying constructive fantasies as mirrors to reality through speculative fiction.

Pedro Moreira’s mini-residency was born out of a partnership with the Barlos Festival. Over the course of two weeks, the artist, with the support of the ArtWorks technicians, developed three metal structures using surplus materials from the factory. These exhibition elements were used to display the works produced during the residency with craftsman António Ramalho, at Galeria Aurora in Barcelos, where the exhibition will be on view until October 25.
