Maria Constanza Ferreira is a Venezuela/Portuguese/American multimedia artist based in Porto. Her works investigate how people relate to their surrounding natural and cultural landscapes, drawing attention to the imperceptible—images, objects, materials, and traditions that are either disconnected from daily life or so prevalent they become unseen. Ferreira utilizes unique scientific imaging techniques to explore microscopic and macroscopic landscapes. Her works with crystallography examine the self-generative properties of synthetic crystals and experiments with the interaction between materials and light. Throughout her practice, she also utilises light as a conceptual framework to explore more personal themes related to spiritualism and the occult. Her works have been showcased internationally at places such as Times Square Midnight Moment, MoMA PS1, the Getty Pacific Standard Time project, MONSTRA Animation Festival, Indielisboa Film Festival, The Exploratorium Museum, and CERN’s CineGlobe. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in Film/Animation/Video.

Maria Constanza Ferreira contacted us regarding her artistic project “Crystal Landscapes”: “I wish to take my project to the next level, which includes scaling up. I require specialized metal and glass technicians, as well as a production team that can help me create a controlled heat process to scale up and refine my pieces.”
Thus, Maria was integrated into the No Entulho Art Residency program in an “Open House” format. This model assumes a free and open approach, prioritizing the autonomy of the artists and their basic production knowledge.
