Art Residencies No Entulho (ARNE) are dedicated to emerging artists and aim to address the unusable or surplus materials from industry, commonly known as “entulho” (debris) as a medium for creation.
< >
Objective of the residencies
The focus of ARNE is to create an exploratory platform open to different agents, welcoming original or ongoing projects. This program aims to stimulate artistic production in an industrial environment and foster a learning atmosphere for both national and internacional artists and agents.
Industrial Context
Working with debris involves dealing with the mutability of matter, along with its temporal and human dimensions. ARNE allows artists to discover unique production contexts alongside experienced technicians in artistic productions. Residents will be encouraged to think, intervene, create, or modify these materials, taking advantage of the existing conditions in our factory and bringing their creative process closer to the operational dynamics and available resources.
Resources
We have specialized equipment and various workshops coordinated by a multidisciplinary team composed of architects, designers, engineers, artists, photographers, craftsmen, and industrial technicians. We can provide leftover materials from other productions, fragments of pieces, unused or damaged objects, and even the dust/residue generated by material trimming. Each residency begins with the discovery of the richness of the different crafts present in our space: their gestures, vocabulary, tools, and techniques can be interpreted in various ways. The different stages of the residency include artistic guidance, technical and material analysis and development of the project, as well as support in manufacturing and audiovisual documentation of each residency.

Formats
ARNE is open to receiving collaboration proposals. Our policy is to make our resources available and share them to foster and contribute to the cultural sector. Besides supporting artists, we aim to strengthen the participation of our production technicians in the development of artistic projects, promoting the sharing of empirical, artistic, and other experiences. In various formats, tailored to the profile of the artists and institutions we collaborate with, we provide production support, residency programs, and programmatic cycles aimed at artists and cultural organizations.

#One-Off
The One-Off residency format prioritizes exploration and experimentation. We have designated workspaces as well as machines and tools available. In terms of materials, we provide all the debris available, both from ArtWorks and from companies partnering with this residency program. Technical support is occasional, characterized by collaborative interaction between workers and artists. Artistic guidance will be regular, focusing on project meetings, residency follow-up, and logistical assistance during the residency period. This format is suitable for artists who need to explore a particular material or technique in a free and collaborative manner.
#OpenHouse
We are open to receiving spontaneous collaboration proposals in a free and open format. The Casa Aberta format involves a long-term residency where the artist can use ArtWorks as an extension of their studio. In this context, we provide our space and production resources for the development of a particular idea or specific project. We prioritize the autonomy of the artists and their basic production knowledge, with technical support in this format being minimal and occasional. For spontaneous proposals for this format, you can fill out the #CasaAberta form.
#Cycles
Programmatic cycles are a residency format designed and structured around a specific theme. They allow for curatorial logics that group and organize a series of residencies within the same context. Since 2018, three programmatic cycles have been created with several artists and partner entities.

Partners
Since 2018 we have welcomed a total of 28 artists, 22 residencies and 28 production, programming and communication partners. These partnerships are an important complement to the management of the residencies, continuing the activation of different inter-sectoral dynamics in the context of artistic creation, a central aspect of the work developed at No Entulho.
