programme cycle 02 / Rumble Stripe

in Collaboration With: Andreia Santana

Tiago Ângelo is an artist based in Porto whose practice involves questioning the relationship between music, technology, and the body on an experiential and sensory level. He works at the intersection of music, sound, and interactive media to develop sound installations, musical instruments, interactive pieces, and performances for theater. His approach emerges from knowledge in electronics, programming, and composition, inviting listeners to experience the frequencies and vibrations of sound phenomena. His work seeks to explore and expand our relationship with music and sound, guiding us through a dialogue between technology and the sensory system.

This residence took place in partnership with Sonoscopia and with Andreia Santana. Culminated with an exhibition at the ArtWorks gallery in Lisbon.

Santana's sculptures, created as if drawing without a specific purpose, do not have functionality in the context of a production line. They have an inherent operability in art, conceived as silences and pauses that serve, beyond their autonomy as sculptures, as platforms for the interpretation and development of a musical performance. The drawings and sculptures that result from them can be affiliated with Cornelius Cardew, the great master of the visual transformation of musical scores, who led musical production to new paradigms considered "absurd," "non-musical," or "obtuse," quickly expanding the possibilities of experimental music in the 1970s.
