The Artistic Residences in No Entulho (RANE) are dedicated to emerging artists and aim to address unusable or surplus materials from the industry, commonly known as debris, as a material for creation.

Residency Objectives

The focus of the Artistic Residencies at No Entulho (ARNE) by ArtWorks is the creation of an exploratory platform open to the interaction of different stakeholders, demonstrating openness to hosting and collaborating with ongoing projects by other entities.

Industrial Context

Working with debris - entulho - involves dealing with the mutability of matter, temporal, and human dimensions. Here, artists can intersect with the gesture of their practice, equipment, manufacturing processes, and technical knowledge, along with surplus industrial materials. Invited to think, intervene, create, or modify these materials, artists can make use of the conditions existing in ArtWorks facilities, thus bringing the creation process closer to the operational dynamics and resources of the factory.

Resources

We have several workshops coordinated by a multidisciplinary team composed of architects, designers, engineers, artists, photographers, craftsmen, and technicians with access to specialized equipment. In this context, we can find fragments, damaged pieces, or even dust/waste generated by the trimming of industrial production. Thus, formerly industrial materials can be used according to artistic logics. The various stages of production include the analysis and technical and material development of the works, through manufacturing, packaging, transportation, and assembly, to the audiovisual recording of each project.

In different formats tailored to the profiles of collaborating artists and institutions, we contribute to the production of artworks, design, and architecture.

We provide ample workspace, surplus materials, and limited access to existing machines and tools. For spontaneous collaboration proposals, you can fill the #openhouse form.

#Cycles

The programmatic cycles are a format of long-term residency where artists make use of ArtWorks facilities for a period of 3 months or more. These cycles allow for the creation of curatorial logics that group and organize a series of residencies within the same context. Selection can be by invitation or through an open call. We seek to promote partnerships and joint residencies among artists from various fields and external entities
